چکیده
This study aims to explore the contrasting characteristics of large-scale circulation that led precipitation anomalies over northern parts Sumatra Island. Further, impact varying Asian–Australian Monsoon (AAM) was investigated for triggering variability area. The moisture budget analysis applied quantify most dominant component induces during JJA (June, July, and August) period. Then, composite statistical approach were confirm result budget. Using European Centre Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) Re-Anaysis Interim (ERA-Interim) from 1981 2016, we identified 9 (nine) dry 6 (six) wet years based on anomalies, respectively. (wet years) area mostly supported by downward (upward) vertical velocity anomaly instead other variables such as specific humidity, horizontal velocity, evaporation. In years), there is a strengthening (weakening) descent motion, which triggers reduction (increase) convection overall motion westerly (easterly) winds appears suppress (support) lead negative (positive) in whole region but with largest Sumatra. AAM proven has significant role A teleconnection between global circulations implies part Island regional phenomenon. tropical possibly related PWC modulation (Pacific Walker Circulation).

متن کاملVariability of large-scale atmospheric circulation indices for the northern hemisphere during the past 100 years
We present an analysis of the large-scale atmospheric circulation variability since 1900 based on various circulation indices. They represent the main features of the zonal mean circulation in the northern hemisphere in boreal winter (such as the Hadley circulation, the subtropical jet, and the polar vortex in the lower stratosphere) as well as aspects of the regional and large-scale circulatio...
متن کاملMaintenance of the boreal-forest rainbelts during northern summer
It is not unreasonable to expect that boreal forests which exist along 60 o N in the Eurasian and North American continents were created and are maintained by warm seasonal rainfall. As revealed from satellite observations and various precipitation sources, zonally elongated rainbelts appear along these forests. Previous studies show that a relationship may exist between the frontal zone along ...
